Milgram Article

In my opinion Stanley Milgrams experiment was not unethical. I think that because it was a controlled experiment and the people were not in any danger that it was a perfectly ethical experiment. Even though it had negative effects on the people involved in the experiment including stress and other psychological effects. There were, however, now lasting and permanent effects found in the people that were being experimented on so I would not say that the experiment was unethical. Overall I found the experiment very interesting because it was an designed to explain why people can do pretty terrible things when they are ordered to do them by an authority figure like a government or social leader even when they know it is wrong and would probably not do it if they were given a choice instead of being ordered to do it. The experiment helps to explain the subconscious desire for people to follow the orders of authority figure instead of their own conscious. History has shown many examples of people doing terrible things because they were ordered by people in power. The experiment definitely helps to explain why events such as the Holocaust and others like it happened.
